From August 2018 through the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020, JoEl Meeks-Matous was the appointed Secretary of the Executive Board of Directors. He raised over $25,000 in funding and donations, brought University of Virginia and University of California Riverside to the Advisory Board, and procured several thousand dollars in equipment and materials for the infrastructure from corporate institutions. At Mission Tomorrow, JoEl represented both TMM and Indie Lab during the two-day event.
He was also instrumental in the planning and execution of REAP (Richmond Ecological Action Project) which was the genesis of the Woodland Cemetery Volunteers, formed in 2019.

The entirety of LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, along with many of Indie Lab’s Facebook and Twitter high engagement posts, were performed nearly two years: more than 200 volunteered hours by TMM on social media alone. Cloud storage, security and paper supply are still facilitated by TMM today.
TMM attended the 2018 5K Carol Adams Foundation Walk-A-Thon, where the CEO gave an informal keynote speech with the Executive Director of Indie Lab. This event, and subsequent meetings thereafter, were the catalyst for the development of EXPLORATION FRIDAYS and expansion of CAFe STEAM.

TMM AND COVID-19
From February through the rest of 2020, during the Indie Lab Covid19 initiatives, TMM leveraged relationships with investors and celebrities to re-purpose its secured financing and donors to the Indie Lab Charity GoFundMe. JoEl also raised additional monies via Twitter for over 300 masks (surgical and kn95) for internal and external distribution. Among those reached were The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Ben Affleck, with Warren Zide and Danielle Fong both contributing as sponsors and 1517 Fund issuing Indie Lab a new grant. Blueshift Technologies later funded a significant portion of the Oxygen Generator build.

TMM joined the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure in summer 2020 in order to refocus on its for-profit efforts and commercialization of intellectual properties, while staying committed to its non-profit passion. TMM worked at Virginia Tech from 2020-2022 (with NanoEarth then Hacksburg) and soon plans to prototype with the RTNN (Research Triangle Nanotechnology Network: a joint cooperative with NC State University, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke).
